Find Federal BOP Releases

To find someone released from the Federal Bureau of Prisons after a Beaver County connection, search the national BOP locator and confirm what federal custody the result addresses. No BOP institution was identified in Beaver County. A local jail entry marked for the U.S. Marshals Service may describe pretrial or court-related federal custody before a normal sentenced-prison record exists. A BOP release establishes departure from BOP custody, but another state, local, or immigration hold can still prevent community release.

Federal Custody Near Beaver

No federal Bureau of Prisons institution was identified in Beaver County. That does not mean federal custody never touches the county. A person can be held locally under federal authority, moved by the U.S. Marshals Service for court, committed to BOP after sentence, or transferred to another custodian when federal custody ends.

The sending Beaver County Jail record can identify a USMS or other federal handoff. Such a movement is not community release. The federal docket explains the court authority, while BOP becomes most useful after a federal commitment or for a historical federal prison record.

Search Federal BOP Releases

The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal inmates from 1982 onward and includes some historical records. A register number is the best search key. Name search can work, but date, age, race, sex, and other displayed details should be compared before selecting a match.

  1. Choose number search when a BOP register number is known.
  2. Otherwise enter the legal name and compare all returned identifiers.
  3. Read the location or status and the release-date field together.
  4. Check the federal docket for sentence, later orders, and supervised release terms.
  5. Check for a transfer or detainer before describing the event as community release.

A BOP result ordinarily shows register number, age, race, sex, release date, and location or status. It does not certify that a similarly named person from Beaver County is the correct match. Use the federal case number or register number whenever possible.

Important: “Released” means no longer in BOP custody. It does not rule out state, local, or ICE custody.

Read Federal Release Results

BOP’s official record explanation gives unusually clear definitions. A past release date with no listed facility indicates release occurred on that date. A location or status of “Released” means the person is no longer in BOP custody. A future date is projected, while “Unknown” means the term has not been determined.

The official explanation is shown in the captured source:

Read BOP’s status and date definitions before interpreting the result.

Federal BOP Beaver County release status explanation

Those definitions are specific to BOP custody and should not be stretched into proof of freedom from every sovereign.

Released
No longer held by the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
Projected date
A future federal release estimate that can change.
Unknown
The release term has not been determined in the BOP record.
Supervised release
A federal court supervision term after imprisonment, distinct from custody.

USMS Beaver Release Limits

The U.S. Marshals Service manages federal prisoners from court-ordered custody through acquittal or conviction and delivery to BOP. Its Prisoner Tracking System is restricted. There is no general public USMS name locator comparable to BOP.

A person held at Beaver County Jail for USMS can therefore be absent from BOP search, especially before sentence. That absence does not show release. Use the named detention facility, federal court docket, and the case-specific USMS contact. A narrow USMS FOIA request may seek a releasable custody or movement record, subject to exemptions.

After conviction and delivery to BOP, the locator is more useful. If the county movement entry names USMS but BOP has no result, do not guess at a destination. The federal docket may identify detention or commitment action, and counsel or the court can clarify the lawful case route.

Note: A Beaver County Jail handoff to USMS closes local custody but does not by itself establish federal community release.

Federal Release Records Contact

BOP’s locator is the first public route for a sentenced federal person, but a formal record may require the federal agency’s records process. Identify the register number, legal name, date range, and exact document sought. Ask for a release-status or movement record rather than an explanation of why a decision occurred.

For pretrial custody, direct the inquiry to the case-specific USMS and court path. For the sending local record, request the Beaver County Jail movement entry showing the destination and authority. Different agencies may redact law-enforcement, security, personal, or protected material.

The federal criminal docket is also important. It can show detention orders, plea and sentence events, judgment, modification, and supervised release. It does not replace the BOP out-custody record, but it explains the legal sequence.

Federal Release Versus Transfer

BOP’s own release statistics exclude transfers to another custodial sovereign. That distinction supports a careful Beaver County reading. A BOP status may close federal prison custody while a state warrant, local case, or ICE detainer causes immediate custody elsewhere.

BOP Released plus no known holdDeparture from BOP is confirmed; verify community status if needed
BOP transfer or receiving recordCustody continues
Beaver USMS handoff onlyFederal custody path began or continued
BOP Released plus ICE ODLS matchFederal criminal custody ended, immigration custody may continue

Supervised release adds another layer. It is a federal court supervision term following imprisonment. It is not BOP incarceration, and it should not be confused with Pennsylvania state parole or Beaver County probation. Review the federal judgment for its terms and the responsible federal probation office.

Federal And ICE Boundaries

ICE custody is civil immigration custody and uses a separate locator. A person can leave BOP to ICE. Search the ICE Online Detainee Locator System by exact A-number and country of birth or by biographical data. ODLS has a recent-release window and exclusions, so no result is not historical proof.

A federal criminal case and immigration matter may proceed on different tracks. A BOP result cannot show an immigration court date or ERO reporting duty. Conversely, ICE ODLS does not show a federal prison sentence. Use each system only for the event it records.

The Beaver County ICE custody page explains the detainer and ODLS route. When the matter started at the county jail, the Beaver County released-inmate search explains how to obtain the local sending record.

Federal Beaver Date Changes

A future date in BOP search is an estimate, not a guaranteed day or pickup time. The federal sentence, credit calculation, good-conduct rules, court modifications, disciplinary action, and another custodial claim can affect the actual event. Do not copy Pennsylvania county good-time rules into a federal calculation. Beaver County’s local formula applies to an eligible county sentence, not a BOP term.

Read a past date differently from a future one. A past date paired with no listed facility supports that BOP custody ended on that date. A future date remains projected. “Unknown” means BOP has not determined the term in the public record. When timing matters, compare the locator with the federal judgment and seek the agency record instead of doing calendar arithmetic from an arrest date.

Release from prison can be followed by federal supervised release. The sentencing court sets that term, and the federal probation system administers it. Supervised release is not the same as Pennsylvania parole, Beaver County probation, or BOP incarceration. A person can be out of BOP custody yet still have binding court duties. The federal judgment is the source for those terms.

Federal Beaver Evidence Order

Begin with the exact authority. If Beaver County Jail held the person, obtain the movement entry and destination. If USMS managed the person before sentence, use the federal docket and case route. If BOP held the person after commitment, use the BOP locator and federal records. If ICE assumed custody, move to ODLS and ERO paperwork.

For a completed BOP release, the locator’s Released status and past date are strong evidence about BOP custody. The federal docket can supply sentence context. Any receiving-agency record resolves the possibility of transfer. This layered method is more reliable than assuming a vanished local name or empty BOP result means freedom.
